The City of Sheridan, Oregon (population 6,122) is recruiting its next City Manager.  This position provides a great opportunity for an experienced manager to help the City plan for its future.  Located in the beautiful West Valley on the South Yamhill River at the base of the coastal range, Sheridan has convenient access to Oregon’s coast, mountains, and the amenities of the larger urban areas of Portland and Salem.  Residents enjoy Oregon’s scenic wine country, outdoor recreation such as hiking, boating, and hunting, as well as casino gaming and entertainment at the Spirit Mountain Casino.

The City seeks a City Manager with strong management and leadership skills who is proficient in all aspects of municipal government management. Experience in public infrastructure planning, management, and construction as well as community/economic development is highly desired.  Effective collaboration and communication skills are essential. A genuine appreciation for the community and a commitment to community engagement is important.

As the administrative head of the City serving at the pleasure of the City Council, the City Manager supervises 18 full-time equivalent employees and oversees an annual budget of approximately $11 million.  Compensation is $100,275 – $130,000 (DOQ) with excellent benefits.

A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Planning, Political Science, or related field, and at least three years of upper-level local government management experience are required. An advanced degree in Public Administration or related field (e.g., Master of Public Administration), and at least ten years of increasingly responsible experience is preferable. Experience and/or training in community economic development, public finance, and union relations is desired.
