Traffic Control Tech I – City of Helena, MT

Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of skilled manual labor tasks assisting other Traffic Control Technicians using common hand and power tools; perform a variety of skilled manual labor tasks, associated with installing and maintaining traffic control signs, and devices; participate in traffic studies; and operate light equipment as assigned.

Work Schedule
This positions normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 7 am – 4 pm. Occasional callout, evening or weekend work may be required.

License and/or Certificate Requirements
-Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record at the time of hire and have the ability to obtain a valid MT Commercial Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
-Successful applicant must possess or be able to possess within 12 months of hire: IMSA Signs and Marking Certification (Level 1) and knowledge of MUTCD (Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices).

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of high school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years related experience in construction or maintenance work. Other relevant combinations of education and work experience may be evaluated on an individual basis.
