2026 Legislative Resolutions

Montana League of Cities and Town’s legislative advocacy starts with the people who know municipal government best: our members.

At the October 8, 2026 Annual Meeting of League Members in Helena, members approved the League’s 2026 Legislative Resolutions, establishing the priorities that will guide our advocacy throughout the 2027 Legislative Session and the following interim. Their adoption marked the culmination of months of discussion, collaboration, and careful consideration by municipal leaders and staff from across Montana.

Across all ten resolutions is a shared understanding: local governments are closest to the people, and local processes and decision-making deserve respect and support from state and federal governments.

The League’s advocacy efforts seek to preserve and promote Montana municipalities, the services they provide, and the economies they support.
