This position is a fulltime public service worker primary street heavy equipment operator that performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled duties in the operation, maintenance and construction of the street and alley system to provide safe travel for the public. The position works to maintain streets and alleys performing seasonal maintenance that includes but are not limited to (1) winter season: snow plowing, sanding, deicing, (2) summer season: asphalt repairs; pot holes, crack filling, asphalt blade patching, street sweeping program, street sign repairs and installations, dry well and storm drain cleaning maintenance program, new dry well installations, alley and street edge maintenance program, street painting, crosswalks, parking, curbs. Maintains city equipment, vehicles, and heavy machinery.
Salary and Benefits
This position is offered with a starting salary of $23.00 or more, depending on previous experience and education. Probationary wage will be 95% of offered wage and will increase after completing a 6-month probationary period. Benefits include Employee Health and Life Insurance, enrollment in the Montana Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), paid vacation (15 days/year) and sick leave (12 days/year), and 10-11 paid Holidays per year. The hours for this position will generally be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
