The workshop, supported by the
West Region Transportation Workforce Center (WRTWC) at Montana State University (one of the five regional transportation workforce centers established by FHWA nationally), will provide information on the
Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities (EPIC) Model – a proven, replicable, and adaptable model for building partnerships between universities and local governments and agencies to advance strategic goals.
The model integrates project-based learning experiences into university coursework on a large scale through yearlong collaborations between education institutions and local agencies, enabling agency partners to reach their goals in an affordable manner while transforming higher education into an arena where students learn through real-life problem solving and develop valuable skills.
The WRTWC is inviting transportation and other local government agency representatives from the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West to attend the workshop, and to explore new collaborations with regional university representatives to create pathways into transportation careers while addressing critical agency needs related to transportation safety, mobility, livability, resiliency, emerging technologies, etc.
