The Federal Communications Commission is launching a new program to bring advanced wireless services to primarily rural areas, and local government officials have the opportunity to challenge an initial determination that an area is ineligible for support.
The MF II Challenge Process is critical to ensuring the success of the Mobility Fund Phase II, a new FCC program that will invest $4.53 billion over 10 years to bring 4G LTE wireless services to unserved areas, primarily in rural America. MF-II will use a reverse auction to target funding at areas that lack unsubsidized service with minimum download speeds of at least 5 megabits per second.
The Challenge Process will give stakeholders an opportunity to submit speed test data through a new USAC portal to show that an area lacks adequate coverage to qualify as already served and should therefore be eligible for support. The MF-II Challenge Process portal is open through August 27, 2018.
Please join USAC for an overview of the Mobility Fund Phase II (MF-II) Challenge Process and a demo of the new USAC Challenge Process portal.
