Great Falls is changing, and we're looking for a municipal attorney and steward of responsible community growth.
Major investments are creating opportunities our community hasn't seen in decades. The $800 million Janicki manufacturing campus is moving forward. Our community is planning for new housing and infrastructure. A new Growth Policy is setting the framework for how Great Falls will grow. And our water system continues to require major investment and careful stewardship.
With opportunity comes responsibility, and we're looking for an attorney who wants to be part of the team navigating both.
This isn't a job where the Legal Department gets called after the decisions have been made. In the City of Great Falls, Legal isn't a box to check or an afterthought.
We're in the room.
As a civil attorney for the City, you'll work alongside planners, engineers, public works professionals, finance staff, police officers, firefighters, department directors, the City Manager, and elected officials to solve problems and serve our community.
And the work is incredibly DIVERSE. You won't be bored, we PROMISE.
If a major employer like Janicki Industries is looking at Great Falls, you'll be part of the team helping the City navigate the legal issues that come with that investment.
If major upgrades or improvements are needed to our water system, you may be drafting and negotiating the construction contracts that make those projects possible.
If the City decides to build a new facility, you'll guide the team through all types of contracts and agreements, risk management problems, and real estate hurdles.
If a new housing development is proposed, you'll help navigate the legal issues surrounding growth, development, infrastructure, and public process.
If the City is implementing its new Growth Policy, you'll provide legal guidance as that vision becomes reality.
If elected officials need guidance during a public meeting or on a complicated legal proceeding, they'll look to you. You'll probably even draft legislation, such as City ordinances, resolutions, and proposed statues.
That's municipal law at its best.
It's not simply about answering technical legal questions, although that's certainly part of it.
It's about being a trusted advisor and collaborative problem-solver. It's about asking, “How can we accomplish this legally, responsibly, and creatively?” rather than simply saying, “No.”
Most importantly, practicing within municipal law is about service.
You will help shape decisions that affect how people live, work, build, move, and thrive in Great Falls. You'll help tackle community challenges before they become problems. And you'll have a seat at the table when the decisions that shape the future of our community are being made.
