The Montana Main Street Program of the Montana Department of Commerce is happy to share the following historic preservation funding opportunity. The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Street America, and American Express have released an open call for nominations for the Partners in Preservation program, an opportunity to bring $2 million in preservation funding to projects on America’s Main Streets through a robust campaign that will raise awareness of the work being done across the country to revitalize commercial districts in small towns, mid-sized cities, and urban centers. The public will be engaged in an online and offline participation campaign to help determine the winning projects. Selected communities will campaign for a share of $2 million in grant funds with a maximum award of $150,000.
To honor the upcoming 100th Anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment the campaign will have a special emphasis on historic buildings and sites that celebrate the contributions of women in Main Street communities across America, both historic and modern day. Through this, Partners in Preservation will seek to uncover and raise awareness of women's often-unrecognized contributions to American history and society.
Last year, The Wah Chong Tai Mercantile and Mai Wah Noodle Parlor Museum in Butte received $133,000 for façade restoration and building roof repairs, and placed sixth in national voting of 20 eligible sites.
The open call for nominations ends on
